Free Detective Games: 12 Picks — Spot the Difference, or Follow the Case
2026. 09. 02 · detective · mystery · spot the difference · hidden object · game recommendations
Compare twelve detective-themed games through picture differences, objects and clues, then cases, escapes and route puzzles. Pictures, timers, magnifiers and line drawing use different rules.
Comparing two pictures
Find differences in homes, landscapes or photos, sometimes as evidence in a story. Photos do not establish longer playtime, and interruption does not guarantee saved progress.

- Differences Detective — landscape scenes with small changes hidden in them. The art is easy on the eyes, which makes it a good first one.
- Detective Photo Difference Game — Click differences between two photos. Observe the details of each image.
- Crime Detective - Spot Differences — the same idea set at crime scenes. The framing sells the theme better than the others here.
- Difference Detective- Find them! — the plain version, with nothing to read before you start. Good when you want to be playing within five seconds.
Objects and clues in a scene
Vandan finds the left-side list before time expires. Loupe uses magnification, hints, suspects and evidence. Stickers drags found stickers down; Oddball selects what does not belong.

- Vandan The Detective — hidden objects against a clock. The timer is what makes it tense; without it this would be a slow game.
- Detective Loupe Puzzle — Investigate with a magnifier and hints, examining suspects and evidence to solve cases. Click or tap clues across characters and stories.
- Stickers Detective — Find the shown stickers and drag them down to score. Tap/click to scatter them, then hold and drag to move them.
- Oddball Detective — find the one thing that does not belong with the rest. Close to spot-the-difference, but your eyes work in a different direction.
Cases, escapes and drawn routes
Explore a missing neighbour’s apartment, horror school scenarios, escape riddles or detective routes. These are not all lengthy continuous stories.
- Detective Max Mystery: The Disappearance of Mr. Winters — a missing person case you work through by collecting clues. The longest sit on this list.
- Horror School Detective Story — an investigation into what is happening at a school after hours. Start here if you like the scary end of the genre.
- Detective Scary Cases — closer to an escape room: dim rooms, puzzles, and a lot of going back over places you already searched.
- Detective & The Thief — Draw paths to thieves matching detective and bag colours. Avoid traps and crossing paths. Hold the mouse on PC or draw by touch on mobile.
Choose picture comparison first, object and clue interaction second, stories, horror or route planning last. Check specific conditions such as Vandan’s timer, fast sticker actions and horror themes.
